Administration:

The Governor’s Residence Preservation Fund (GRPF) was founded in 2008 to preserve the historic Governor’s Residence at the Boettcher Mansion, to create meaningful activities for all Coloradoans, and to leave a legacy for the generations to come.

The GRPF is a Colorado not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to preserve the Residence in perpetuity and to provide educational and cultural programs from the Residence that are statewide, inclusive, and nonpartisan.

Why do we need the Governor’s Residence Preservation Fund?
While the Residence is state-owned and state tax dollars cover health and safety repairs at the Residence, there is no state budget for the long-term preservation, protection, or utilization of the Governor’s Residence and its many treasures.

In 2010 the GRPF obtained an extensive Historic Structural Assessment of the Residence. This assessment writes a Preservation Plan that prioritizes projects and estimates their costs.

Who pays for preservation of and programming for the Governor's Residence?
In the past, the work of preserving the Governor’s Residence fell on the shoulders of Colorado’s First Ladies. It was up to them to fund raise and advocate for this magnificent home.

Former First Lady Frances Owens raised millions of dollars in private funds to restore the home’s stunning interior and gardens, and to save the handsome Carriage House from demolition. Upon taking office, former First Lady Jeannie Ritter realized the need for a “friends of” nonprofit organization that would assume this vital role, and the GRPF was born.

The significance of the initiative was recognized by the Colorado Tourism Office in 2008 when it gave the Chairman’s Award to Mrs. Ritter. GRPF activities go beyond current administrations. We are committed to creating an endowment that will ensure the future vitality and accessibility of one of Colorado’s most historic and beautiful assets.

The GRPF is under the oversight of a non-partisan Board of Directors
made up of committed community and business leaders from around the State.
