Dear Educators,
The Governor’s Residence is in a unique and central position to share Colorado history, highlight the heritage of Colorado peoples, showcase Colorado culture, and provide lessons in history, leadership and civics.

We offer a standards-based program, “How Colorado became a State”, that includes an intimate tour of the Residence. We present Colorado history from the point of view of the state’s leaders, past and present.

The Educational Program presently focuses on classes for children who study Colorado History in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade. See Photos

Students who study lessons at the Residence have the experience of being part of that history, learning that they too can and do affect Colorado’s present and future life.

We also care about providing Colorado’s Social Study educators with a resource for their classroom teachers. To that end, we have developed an interactive timeline for use in the classroom.

Thank you to our Education Program Funders for their vision and support of Colorado students and educators

Anschutz Foundation’s
grant gave us start-up funding for development of innovative standards-based Colorado history programs at the Residence and supported visits by over 1,500 students and 100 educators since fall 2010.

Daniels Fund
grant supports continuing curriculum development for elementary and secondary students, and the creation of films and on-site Leadership Programs for students from around Colorado.

Verizon Wireless
grants are allowing us to create an interactive Colorado history education website, designed to reach elementary students statewide and support educators in their classroom.
